Promise 47
Promise 47
Pairing: Ohmiya
Rating: G
Word Count: 533
Summary: Ohmiya and sandcastles. Nino is impatient.
Aren't you done yet?" Nino is moping; Ohno has been wearing his patience thin for the last forty five minutes at least. He didn't think it was possible to take so long to build a sandcastle, but apparently he was wrong.
"No." Ohno doesn't look up from the sand. He's concentrating, crouched low. His fingers, covered with salt-and-pepper grains, are delicately shaping windows.
Nino is absolutely positive that he'll have to take two showers. There's sand in the most inappropriate places, not to mention between his toes and in his hair. "Why do you have to build it on top of me?"
"Because I like Nino to be part of the things I do." Ohno does pause now, flashing Nino a smile. It has the hint of deviousness in it that usually leads to things like throwing water balloons at Aiba, or mixing up Jun's hair gel, or an Ohmiya SK skit.
Nino sighs. "Hurry up." He wiggles his toes; a tower wobbles precariously, and then a small avalanche occurs; Ohno makes a sound of protest and sets about fixing it, taking no heed of Nino's demand.
So Nino stares upwards, letting his mind drift. The sun is hidden behind a scudding cloud, but even so he has to squint for the brightness. There's a bird spinning in lazy circles that he can see if he tilts his head back just a bit.
There are other things he wishes that Ohno were doing with his hands. In his head, he starts listing them: one, two, three, four. He's positive Ohno has no idea what he's thinking about.
"You owe me, you know," Nino says, giving up on watching the bird.
"Dinner?" Ohno sounds distracted.
"No." Nino pauses purposefully. "Kisses. One for each minute you keep me pinned down here."
He can feel Ohno's eyes on him, then. He tries to meet the gaze, but the angle is rather awkward, and if he lifts his head his neck starts to hurt. In retrospect, it feels a little silly to have demanded such a thing; Ohno couldn't possibly say--
"Okay."
"Eh? What? Really?" And who cares if his neck hurts, he's got to look at Ohno right now, even though he knows exactly what expression is on Ohno's face anyway. Though he's surprised by that as well: Ohno actually looks a bit sheepish, and maybe, possibly, a little shy. "...That's forty-five kisses, Ohchan!"
"Do you have a timer in your head?"
"No, I have a watch on." Nino checks it again, even though he doesn't have to, and shows it to Ohno. "Forty-seven, actually."
Ohno nods solemnly. "Okay." And then he goes back to finishing up his sandcastle, a tiny smile on his face.
"...Okay." And so Nino falls back, arms stretching above his head, feeling, suddenly, very pleased with himself, the world, and even the sand weighing him down. He settles down to wait, patient in a way he didn't know he could be. After all, every minute longer is just one more kiss, and Nino intends to make Ohno pay up for each and every one.
